8 February is the start of the Chinese New Year - and this time it's the Year of the Monkey. According to the Chinese horoscope system - a twelve year cycle of animals - people born under the sign of the monkey are clever, curious and mischievous. They sometimes appear confused rather than intelligent but they enjoy a challenge.

Meanwhile celebrate the New Year with Islington Chinese Association - 21 Hatchard Rd N19 4NG on Saturday 13 February from 12 to 4 pm. Lion dancers, calligraphy, tai chi, food stalls and more. Entrance is free! For full details follow the attachment link above left.
The theme continues at Archway Library in half term. On Wednesday 17 February between 2.30 and 3.30 the library is offering a Chinese New Year craft event. Children will be able to make their own Chinese Lantern Chain and Dragon Puppet. Suitable for ages 4+, this event is limited to 20 places so please contact the library for availability (020 7527 7820). All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
